Republic P-47 Thunderbolt had the nickname "Big Jug" (short for Juggernaut)
More than 15600 of the aircraft were built between 1941-45
This aircraft has the stripe markings designated for aircraft on the D-Day invasion
This image was taken at Duxford "Flying Legends" airshow back in 2012
Pilot & Maintenance crew are relaxed, sharing a joke
