I was going to post a nice calm picture of a lovely sunset. However, today I found out that one of my oldest and dearest friends was repeatedly raped by various men, most of whom she loved and trusted, from the age of 5 'till in her 20s. And although she tried to tell someone, in the 70s and 80s this type of thing was not spoken about, and she became too scared to trust enough to tell anyone else.

Angry does not even begin to describe how I feel at the moment, and therefore my peaceful sunset will have to wait. This is for my friend, myself and all the other women (and men) out there who have been preyed upon by cowards who think they have the right to do whatever they want to another person.

Alda, I feel so sincerely sorry for the trauma that your friend has faced - and the anger you are now dealing with. We need to empower ourselves and everyone - it is the only way to STOP the insanity. Rape seems to be the 'norm' in this world. I have always told my children to watch the signs and if they learn to 'Feel' and acknowledge how they feel it will prevent such things happening to them because they can walk away before anything happens. The sick minded prey on anyone with low self-esteem in regards to their energy - it is picked up on. Young people in particular need to realise that no one has the right to judge them and make them feel bad about themselves in anyway and they do not need to 'follow others' to fit into a crowd - I would rather be alone in a crowd then do the stupid things that some people do. I have come to a stage in my life where I never feel lonely and I am trying to get my girls to that stage now at the age they are at. I told my kids that when a 'popular person/s' try to bully you - beat them down with your words because you are more intelligent than they are. It is all about empowerment and some children are not taught that at home - they are bullied and so become weak and susceptible to be preyed on.
The image you have created has reminded me of recent thoughts because my daughter recently found out that her friend has gone through the same trauma as yours and today, her friend is a full on drug addict that my daughter is trying to help. Her friend sells herself for drugs because she feels everything has been taken from her anyway. So I've been wondering why it is that these people - the sick minded do not think about the consequences of their actions - your image is completely correct - I believe!

From a mans, fathers and husbands point of view, rape for me should be dealt with in the same manner as murder. In murder you have taken someones life, in rape you have taken away so much more. I shall stop now as this issue is very close to my heart. My thoughts are with you and your dear friend.

Alda, like Nathan speaking as a husband and a father I am abhorred at the story you tell. I too fail to understand the people who behave in this manner but the truth is they are weak sick people who prey on the vulnerable because they are unable to take on anybody who they perceive as strong because they know they wouldn't get away with the abuse. I agree with Ava in all that she has said about young people and the difficult world they now face into. I think society as a whole has to share a responsibility for abuse cases like this and we know only too well here in Ireland what failure by the authorities has led to. I hope everything works out and that the person will find some comfort and she is very lucky to have a friend like you who can help her

On a trivial point great image.

On a more serious point I am sadly stunned by your story. I have 3 daughters and I want them to remember me with love and thanks. Someone close to me was abused by an uncle when she was younger. She recently reported it to the police but 'it was too long ago' to be able to get a successful prosecution.

Agree with Nathan 100% as Rape dosn't mean taking a Life away Physically, but Mentally, it certainly does.

Strong sentiment & image Alda & conveys all the rage that must build up from such a situation!

The sword Exaclibur like & the raven part of the reason for Arthurs fall (Bran) so a lot if hidden significance there.
