Rickshaw Run Finish

By jasonrwl
Many thanks for your support for the Kathakali pictures.
While in Fort Kochi, we were fortunate to happen upon the finish line of the 2020 Rickshaw Run which until then I knew nothing about. However, there was a lot of fun going on so I took some pictures and found out more afterwards.

The website says:

"Imagine yourself and a couple of mates squashed into a 1 donkeypower rolling cake tin tackling thousands of miles of old school adventure. This then, is the Rickshaw Run. Easily the least sensible thing to do with two weeks.

Thereís no set route, no back-up and no way of knowing if youíre going to make it. The only certainty is that you will get lost, you will get stuck and you will break down." If you look carefully at the lead picture you will see that the rickshaw on the right has a breakdown tally painted on it on the rear wheel arch!

Participants travel 3000km (ish) but they use the concept of the un-route - "Un-routes are a simple yet devastatingly effective concept. There is a start line and a finish line and everything in between is up to you. The distance you drive depends on how lost you get."

"Adventure isnít a place or an activity. Adventure is not knowing what will happen to you tomorrow or in the next 10 minutes. Adventure is setting forth in a spirit of ignorance. Itís getting lost. Itís getting stuck. Itís getting in trouble. The Rickshaw Run is the stage upon which chaos can be wrought. But you must be very careful not to spoil your own fun. 2 golden rules should be followed.

Thanks for looking

If the participants didn't suffer from bad backs before they started, then they will by the time the race is finished.Wink

Wow, that does sound like an adventure.
Getting lost is my speciality at the best of times, so chances are, I'd never get back to the finish line!
