Riding Into The Rain.

By terra
A not so brilliant day on the North York Moors. But at least it's downhill from here. This is the top of the Ingleby Incline on the old Rosedale railway, which used to carry ironstone from the mines in Rosedale. The engines stopped here and gravity did the rest, the loaded trucks plunged down the incline, their weight pulled up the empty trucks from the previous journey.

Hi John, nice image, and an interesting write up, if you are interested search for Denniston here in NZ, for a similar story of the mining traffic, the "incline" is folklore here.
And there are now a lot of cycle trails in this area, but at 600m above sea level things get out of site in short time, so fair weather riding, there is also a trail up Mount Rochfort, at 1040m, to the T.V. Communication antenna.
Nigel.
