Road Trip USA (20)

By TyChee
The Bonneville Salt Flats -- Utah, USA

After a long day on the road a rest area can be an inviting site. But here in the salt desert, you probably won't stay too long. With the temperature well above 100 F, you could fry eggs on the tops of the white concrete picnic tables.

Picture 2 shows a site you only see in the vastness of the wide open west. With 3 trailers in tow, it almost feels like you are passing a train on the highway instead of a truck.

PLEASE VIEW LARGE!

Thanks for stopping by.

Great shots that really do show the heat of the flats. Like the choice of pano to present these images.

Such an amazing place....even the architecture is spare and modern. Those trucks must be scarey to encounter. Luckily, there is lots of room....not like a log truck on an ice covered two-lane!

This is amazing Ty.
I like the angle of the structure, obviously built to make the most of the shade.
I am so glad we don't have those lorries over here...I am what my hubbie calls a very nervous passenger, & duck at the slightest hint of what I think is danger....it never is though.

Nice shot. The deep blue sky against the white of the salt flats is really appealing.

Merry X'mas and a happy 2008, Ty!

Well seen and well shot, this! When I saw 'Utah salt flats' I immediately thought of land speed records.

Maybe that truck in the first pic is carrying parts of the latest version of the Blue Flame?
