Rocks and Stones

By debster
Another shot taken last weekend, this time at Ringstead Bay as we left Portland. Unfortunately the weather turned stormy minutes after we arrived so it's someplace I'm going to have visit again....

Comments greatly appreciated

Nicely composed, think the levels could be punched up a little, see MOD.

Thank you everyone. Adrian, I'm having a few problems at the moment trying to work out what is an acceptable "level". I yearn towards "natural" so I'm trying to keep the photos pretty much as they were when I took them but don't know if this is the way to go as I'm often picked up on this aspect. If anyone else has any comments, I'd be grateful.

Thanks again,

Lovely shot - well composed. I like the more natural look myself so I think yours is just right. Click

Oh yes . I see? Clouds with "Punch" . . .and everything else as well. No! for me the natural image is fine, If it were a sky-scape maybe yes. But ar'ent the rocks and shore line the subject and interest here? I imagine you could have used a blue grad at the point of exposure to add something? but I think you should do your own thing.

Hi Deb. Have to agree, being natural is the way to go. Lovely detail and composition. You wouldn't be doing a lot of sun bathing on this beach though!! click. John

It's a shame that the light was so "flat", I imagine at sunset in winter the rocks will light up quite nicely, as will the cliff in the background. Looks like an interesting place.

(very slight slope to the right on the horizon...about 0.6 degree CCW rotation would do it)

Watcha Debbie,
yes, like this, excellent composition and colours, well seen and taken, guddun.
Clouds look fine, natural, as does the sea; however, foreground rocks do look as if they need a bit more strength, both in colour and contrast. My inclination is to jump over them, which is a pity cos there is so much beautiful texture there.
