Rocks on Beach Connemara

By bouic
Taken on a recent holiday in Ireland. This part of Connemara has white sandy beaches and on this day a glorious sky.

I was hoping for some reaction to this picture, like or dislike it does not matter, but I am interested to try some images to gauge photographers reaction to my images.

I like this Dave.

Very strong foreground interest.
The curve of the shoreline leads my eye nicely into the distance whilst the vignetting stops my attention from wandering out of the LH side.
Would like the sky to be a bit more prominent but not sure how you would achieve that, maybe a different focal length lens or viewpoint.
Exposure and conversion are very good with a good range of tones and detail in the sand.

Yup, lots of foreground interest although the bit of string/rope/wire or whatever it is between the fork of the rocks is distracting for me. The vignette doesn't work for me either, unfortunately. I get a sense that the image is all about the foreground rocks, and not a lot else. I think the tones could also have been a bit more punchy. I think it's got potential as an image, but it would also be interesting to know how you went about processing the image, as that's one of the primary reasons this group was established Smile

Lovely scene but I'd agree that to me the vignette is too strong, possibly even unnecessary (it might even benefit from a white vignette) and I'd probably have a go at increasing the contrast.

I have tidied it up a bit and removed the vignette. I do agree it looks better for it.

I also prefer the modified version - it's so much more character and seems better balanced now. Also, the white tops of the clouds in the distance are now visible and white, instead of grey from the vignette, which just adds to it.
