Roll Out the Barrel

By Fefe
Another day in the "During the War" series, still got few more yet..... so long as you not getting bored? Gone for mono today for a change to the aged and sepia tones.
This Lady was demonstrating wash day during the wartime, not candid today, she gladly posed for the shotSmile
The thing of this image I like is the strong shadow of the washing line, I know the bottom of the image is quite dark from the shadows, but thought it added to the grimness...... Fancy having to wash your bedding this way on a day like today, Dont think I'd botherWink
Thankyou all for votes and comments on yesterday's uploadGrin

There is so much of interest to look at in this image, I love the old mangle, I remember my mother using one of these Smile Very well captured, love the way the shadow from the washing on the line falls at a diagonal across her face. Carol

'How we used to live' should read 'How we managed to live !' A wonderful series. Wonderfully shot, processed, presented and described. 5*

Great composition here! I would've liked more to see a bit of fill-flash for those harsh shadows though!
