The scorching Mediterranean summer finally coming to its end, last weekend saw me fetching my camera again and heading out to capture a suitable end of summer theme - sunset shots. With this in mind, I headed for one of the best North-western spots on the Island to photograph the sun setting right into the deep blue Mediterranean Sea, Ghajn Tuffieha ridge, or as it is typically known in English as the Apple's Eye. I took with me the last lens I purchased over the summer period, namely my new Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS lens, which has come to serve me much better than the customary standard zoom lens, its a pretty good all round lens in fact.
Just as the sun prepared to dip over the horizon, I came across this couple perched over the ledge of the ridge which, incidentally, happens to be the furthest North-western tip of the Maltese Islands. The setting before me seemed so naturally romantic (with the sun dipping low over the sea) that it simply had to be captured as is ..... I simply re-positioned myself slightly to improve the overall composition and shot a few frames at different focal lengths.
I ended up choosing this particular shot to share with you since it it conveys the type of shot I had wished to capture in the first place. Quite a romantic sunset I have to admit too. I hope you find the image to your liking.
Have a good weekend,
Joe
