Roof Tops Down

By twelvemegs
I'm delighted with the response I’m getting for my “Harbour View” B&W upload.
It is very encouraging and I am most grateful. Smile

Another snippet of roof tops from these wonderful cottages of Clovelly.
At £5.95 each adult, to enter the village, I wanted to get my money’s worth. So I have a few more to come yet. Grin

David

Superb conversion - b&w definitely works best for me with these, it conveys the light. I think I marginally prefer yesterday's composition for the way sea and buildings interact.

Having studied this and your previous b&ws from Clovelly I am almost tempted to say that the images demand this treatment, David.
The excellent compositions contain a wealth of detail that is so easily overlooked in colour because the place is 'as pretty as a picture'; sure it is, but that is to ignore the ingenuity of the structures, the complexity of the components and the way the village is clagged on to the cliff face. The mere thought of going up a ladder to replace one of those roof tiles gives me the collywobbles. Excellent work.

I think Bill (woolybill1) has made some very acute observations and I tend to go along with what he says: whilst I do like colour images, there is no doubt that this recent set you have posted do look great in the B and W presentation, the amount of detail showing quite remarkable.
