Roque Cinchado and Mount Teide - Tenerife Temptations image 1

By MunroWalker
Image taken on 16/3/2015

Roque Cinchhado and Mount Teide - The Roque Cinchado is a unique rock formation and is emblematic of the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain). It lies within the Teide National Park (a World Heritage Site) in the municipality of La Orotava, near the volcano of the same name, in the heart of the island. The Roque Cinchado is one of the largest in the world by altitude, for the entire park totals more than 2000 metres.

The Roque Cinchado is located about 1700 meters below the summit of Teide volcano and is a volcanic formation; it belongs to a line up of large rock formations, remnants of the former summit of the island, known as "Roques García."

The rock is a famous rock formation, in fact its image appeared on one thousand peseta bank notes, with Teide in the background.

Teide is the third highest volcano in the World and is the most visited area on the Island of Tenerife. If you had climbed the rough steps to the left, you would have got a better image of Roque Cinchado, as the angle of it is far more visible. Nevertheless, a nice image.

I live here on Tenerife and have visited the Teide National Park many times with clients who have been on my photography workshops.
