Rose of Tralee

By gingerdelight
The pale moon was rising above the green mountain
The sun was declining beneath the blue sea
When I strayed with my love to the pure crystal fountain
That stands in beautiful vale of Tralee.
She was lovely and fair as the rose of the summer
Yet, 'twas not her beauty alone that won me
Oh no! 'Twas the the truth in her eye ever beaming
That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.
The cool shades of evening their mantle were spreading
And Mary all smiling was listening to me
The moon through the valley her pale rays was shedding
When I won the heart of the Rose of Tralee.
Though lovely and fair as the rose of the summer
Yet, 'twas not her beauty alone that won me
Oh no! 'Twas the the truth in her eye ever beaming
That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.

An Irish traditional folk song - and very apt as Dave and I are off to Tralee for a few days on Sunday. This will be my last upload until my return as I am doing a Craft Fair tomorrow - trying to sell some of my framed images, well these things have to be done you know!!! Wink

Thanks for all your continued support and I will catch up when we return.

Very romantic words here Carol, but don't you believe a word of them !!
She was actually a bit of a hussy with the sailors,
and they even named a warship after her called the Mary Rose !!
Twas the truth I say !!

I like what you have done here Carol, the way you have worked the rose into the image.
How ever I cant stand that tune,,,funny how something can grate on the nerves,,
The important thing is the image and how you have interpreted it,,in my opinion very nicely done in deed.

Hope you enjoyed your stay,
