Rough Gold

By hwatt
Clashach Cove, Moray, Scotland.

Taking a shot into the light even when diffused by cloud is never easy but the rewards in terms of drama are second to none so it is worth persevering and trying to fill the scene in front of you with as much light as possible and that means using its reflection in water as best you can. Flare can be a real problem and this was a rough day with windblown salt spray sticking to my filters. The gold intermingling with the reflected blue light from a twilight sky was wonderful the resulting exposure dark but full of drama.

Pentax 67II, 55-100 zoom, 0.45ND Hard Grad staggered together with a 0.3ND Hard Grad at water horizon, f/22 at 1/2 Second, Fuji Velvia 50.
