Round and Round

By chase
The second offering from my session with this wonderful cog.
Slightly different angle of light from the handheld LED, a little more to the right of camera to catch the circular saw and the little cog from my chainsaw.
Again, I wanted the darkness with the patina of the subjects picking up the light.

An HDR image, 3 frames, 1 stop apart, combined in Lightroom, finished in Photoshop with a levels adjustment and a drop of sharpening.

Thanks for dropping by.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.
Be good, stay safe and smile.
Janet xx

I'm seeing a sort of abstract rendition of Van Gogh's sunflowers.
I'm clean out of UAs, my apologies.

Never thought I would enthuse about cog wheels but this is a super image, Janet. I love the light catching the chainsaw blade (or whatever you call it) almost creating a "go faster stripe", as well as the patina....oil and grunge, I can almost smell 'em!!!!

Are you gearing up for a series ?

Have you come across Harold Ross? He is a lightpainter extraordinaire See here. I have admired his work for a while and this reminds me of him.

I agree with Moira, though I'd not seen it before... And I'm also out of UAs for the day...

Warning, to those allowing a rummage: leaving it 'tidy' may actually be entirely the same as leaving it *empty*...

Nice mod from Willie: though I slightly prefer the original, with a real steely coldness to it.

Lol, it's a possibility Wink

Quote:Have you come across Harold Ross?

Oh yes, I look at his stuff on a fairly regular basis.

Lovely compliment Somnath, many thanks for your UA, always great to receive.

Nice mod Willie, thank you, I do like the slight yellow cast especially on the saw blade. I tried not to alter the white balance as that was not what I was actually seeing, especially with the LED lighting, your mod perhaps shows me what I would have liked to have seen....if you get my drift. May try a slight alteration on any other images from this session that are worth showing.

Many thanks everyone..................John, tidying a shed is sacrilege Wink

I think I prefer the cold steeliness of Janet's original image too, beautifully rendered.

I like these metal items-- their patina and shapes!
Love the subject, excellent still life.

But tidying someone else's shed is a great opportunity to help them by removing junk - if you catch my drift.

Another fine presentation, Janet, though I did prefer the previous of the two 👍
