Rowing Boat at Greencastle

By garymcparland
I shot this boat a couple of weeks back at Greencastle in Co Down. It was steady on a bit of sand and the water was lapping around it. I managed to get a long exposure but not long enough for the image i wanted so i added a surface blur in Photoshop on the water.
Hopefully i wont get too mant accusations of being a cheat Wink

Thanks for looking Smile

I looked at this for quite a while, wondering how that boat stayed so still. Then I read your description, which confirmed my guess. An excellent effect to see that boat so stable. Perfect timing tide-wide!

Too bad you couldn't achieve this effect through just long exposure
but you had the civil courage to admit to your "recourse" - that's commendable Wink
And anyway the effect is really pleasing to the eye Smile

Lucky for you it works!
I wondered how you'd avoided movement in the boat, sitting on sand, now that's cheating! Wink

Cheating?; that's what photoshop is there for, we don't expect you to spend all that money and not use it, especially if the results are so perfectly beautiful as this is.

Well you've come clean after all these years, does it lift a great weight off your shoulders? Only joking - a very well thought out bit of processing.

The movement in the sky looks great Gary, and the effect you've created from the sea works very well to and contrasts so well against the stillness of the boat
