Royal Clipper

By panda
The Royal Clipper which I had the good fortune to sail on, a couple of years ago. For those interested, she has a Tonnage of 5000, Length 439 ft, beam 54 ft, mast height 197 ft, and a total sail area of 54,360 sq ft, made up of 42 sails. You can get an idea of the size by noticing the two people sitting on the bowsprit. They are like little ants. She is the only five masted square rigged sailing ship in the world. I thought I would upload another shot, as the extra pixels we now have with the new upgraded Epz, give more detail.
Have a good weekend all. Regards Phil

Great shot really gives a sense of scale. I saw her in St Lucia in 2004 (where this is taken judging by the Pitons in the background).

She's a beauty. The only sailing ships I've been on are the Statsraad Lemkuhl and Christian Radich, but they are small compared to this beauty. Wow

A wonderful image, but I'm sure glad I didn't live in that era and sail on one. It also reminds me of a story about a school kid who wrote on an essay that Sir Francis Drake was the first to circumcise the world with a giant clipper. I'm sure he grew up to be a great author... Smile
