This is a lovely spontaneous shot (much better term than grab shot) that captures the exuberance of the child beautifully. I too would be tempted to run along those gorgeous curvy lines but sadly my running days are long gone.

Cool swirling abstract, random light and shadows, then human life dashes through the frame. You weren't set up for the child but 1/100 second has served you well, just enough motion blur for the child to contrast with the crisp clean lines.
Those two red stripes - pure serendipity.

Well captured despite rush - great feeling of movement with the boy and the curving lines.
As Moira says the red stripes were your good fortune.

Great eye and timing, Ann GrinGrin

Your grab shot has got better composition than a lot of carefully composed shots! Wonderful, this. The boy's colourful stripes zipping on down the duotone ones Smile

The implied motion in the paving and the motion of the boy complement each other perfectly. That touch of blue in his clothing in that great position is a real fine composition.

Sorry I'm late to this one Ann, what a great composition for a grab shot, light, shade and patterns all working in concert with the movement of the boy... Super shot!
