Rushing water

By Madoldie
This was taken while out in Golitha falls on Bodmin moor. I've uploaded the original in the modification section, this is my take on the photograph after a little processing in photoshop. I was trying to capture the water flowing over the rocks as the river passed through the woods.

As good as many of it's type, and actually better than most. The problem with these is that they are very very common and, ideally, needs a bit of something original to lift it above the masses.

However, as I said, little really to criticise and you have done all that as needed.

Very Nice shot though a little lacking in the shadows. Camera Raw filter could help lift the shadows and contrast and a little sharpening to pull out some more detail. I do like the shot overall and think it is well composed and framed.

Kind regards Roland

I agree that the shadows are missing a bit of detail: my mod used Curves to hold highlight detail and brighten them, beginning with the 'as shot' version. However, the result looks very grey... I may have a second go at it, using a more-familiar route!

The precise point ot crop is always a matter for debate: I opted for including the base of the tree on the left, and losing the distant trees at the top, rather than water and rock at the bottom.

This has worked rather well, though I am getting the feeling that your camera tends towards underexposure for some reason. I wonder if others commenting regularly get the same impression?
