Saltmarsh Monochrome...

By Scottishlandscapes the top of Loch Torridon the grasses are steeped in salt water twice a day and the sheep seem to like it.
I did too when I had a wander across the little burns that criss cross the grass.

I am being distracted by memories of salt-meadow lamb in Normandy... Ready seasoned meat...
I really cannot imagine this in colour, and don't want to. The foreground textures in particular are so tactile, that's what matters. I love the way water surface, reflections, textures and seabed mingle.

Like Moira, I too feel the original colour version would be a disappointment after seeing this conversion, Dougie.
The foreground finger surrounded by the darker water, the sun-lit ridges above and the sky darkening again at the very top of the frame adding a natural border.

The tranquility seems heightened by the mono treatment Dougie. I've never tried salt meadow lamb but it sounds delicious, lamb being a firm favourite of mine. I did once have some lamb from North Ronaldsay which feeds on seaweed and I didn't care for it too much, especially as I paid extra to have it (in a restaurant!) SmileSmileSmile

I like the textures in the foreground land and the way it seems to be advancing into the loch.
Great B&W.

Wonderful Dougie. I like how the darkened sky at the very top of the image keeps us inside the image and it is really difficult to leave it.

You must walk your legs off getting these beautiful images Dougie and you must be a few inches shorter in doing so as well

I always somehow associate that part of the land with wild and windy conditions yet you have been there when there was a complete calm, certainly judging by that mirror flat surface that has allowed these crisp reflections to record.
The consensus is that B and W is the right way to present this one and I feel I go along with that, Dougie.
I can sense the clarity of the air, with every fine detail to be captured.
