Doll like in appearance, a little to overworked for my liking, however still a rather enchanting image.

Nice portrait but for me (and its only my personal feeling) its a tad on the soft side for me but you have got some nice catchlights in the eyes. Was this done at processing or did you have a soft filter on? If done in processing I'd like to see the original. Smile

Wow i think this is exquisite, the soft focus makes you look directly into her beautiful sharp eye's, great work, if this was my image I would just crop a little bit off the RHS to give the impression she is looking into the photograph, but thats just an opinion and its still a super image...John

Super photography, I love the softness of the image. Her eyes are exquisite. I don't see any areas for improvement,Although johnke's suggestion of a slight crop would work.

Overall a god shot Phil. Theres a few issues I noticed when I downloaded it that suggest there might have been an issue with re sizing. The background is very pixelated, and shows large blocks of colour; the same can be seen in her hair if the brightness is turned up a little, - so some sort of issue I would put down to re sizing.

The skin colour doent work well for me, - would like to see less blue and a touch more yellow. When softening, dont apply to the hair, hat, eyes or mouth. Small sliver of white at the bottom crom cropping. Would also remove the spot over her lip, - when softened, the natural blemish looks larger, and more like a smudge.

I will take a look at V2 to see if theres any of the re sizing issues, - it lo0oks better here, but will check. Can you lets know both how you re sized, and how you smoothed the skin>

Thanks

regards

For me, too, the original is rather OTT in processing.

I can see some resizing issues (found them the hard way in doing a mod of V2, to show that a more natural look can work).

Very strong in that it makes you look, but even the glossy magazines don't over process this much. You have over done it a lot. I recon the original with pin sharp eyes and just a tiny bit of diffusion could be a gem.

On the other side of the coin, v2 is a bit ordinary and suffers from her upward gaze. Eye contact would be better. The eyes are not very sharp. You are using a tripod of course!

V1 - Way over-processed for my taste! Apart from the eyes, the face seems to have no real substance. I appreciate the commercial demand for the perfect, flawless complexion, but this is processed to the extent that the eyes seem to be drawn on.
If you want to see why a lot of people dislike this style, have a look at this spoof ad .
V2 - Imperfect, but it's an image with character and a sense of a real person.

I should have added - she's a lovely model, with warm, sparkling eyes - I'd like to see a more natural, less heavily processed version of V1 uploaded.

V1 is lovely, but really overprocessed. As Moira said, I would love to see a more natural V1. I've done a mod of V2, where I've softened the skin, whitened the eyes and slightly saturated the lips. Also removed spots, hope you like Grin

The first image is way over-processed.

A tip for you. When softening a a portrait, try this:

Create a new layer > pass the image thorough a high pass filter. I set the filter to 4.2 pixels for the image size of 614 X 800. This pixel size would need to be increased for an image that has just come out of the camera.

Once the image has been sharpened, invert that sharpening so the image becomes soft. On the layers panel, select 'overlay and reduce the layer's opacity, coarsening the softening you applied to suit the image best.

Create a mask and paint out the softening on the eyes, mouth, hair and hat. I used the spot removal tool to take out the blemishes.

See Mod above.
