Sara Starlett

By NickParry
As you will see from the original this needed lots of work to get it up to scratch. Sara was after a glamourous look, like the starletts of the 40s. This attempt was taken with a ring flash, and it ruined what could have been a good shot. Also, Sara did her own makeup, which on reflection she should have asked for a makeup artist to do it for her Smile

Method:

Really too long to say in exact detail. But what I did was copy the background and use surface blur to smooth out the skin a little, on top of this I copied the background layer and did a high pass sharpen to bring back a little skin detail. Lots of level adjustments, and also used a bit of dodging and burning on parts of the eyes and lips to add shine and depth. The makeup near the hair line was not good (to say the least) so lots of work here cloning etc. Also cooled the image slightly with photo filter adjustement. Lots more done but I hope I have explained a little of the process.

Nick

Thanks Koen. I love this feature, and I am quite pleased with the result. I have a saying that you 'can't polish a turd' but I suppose sometimes you can Smile Nick

I think you have done here a good job. But the skin is for me to red. I think it could be better without a but red.
