Saturday Shadow

By Ericsamson
A shameless bit of caddish subversion; I'm going for the double whammy of Saturday Shadows and Silly Saturday. I'll be thrown out of the Drones for this I fear. Blush Wink
Before I reduce this nice lump of sycamore to a heap of shavings and end up with a bowl of some description I thought I'd have a practice with a power carver (I need a great deal of practice!). Anyway this bizarre idea occurred to me. Sorry. Blush
I've blacked in the carving with a Sharpie. Sorry - not very subtle. Blush
I feel obliged to keep apologising in case the FBI and the Apaches come after me.

Many thanks for the generous and wonderfully witty responses to 'A Tale of Modern Manners'. I'm sure I've sent PMs to those who gave their much valued UAs but I will check! Apologies for missing some uploads earlier this week; I lost email connection with EPZ and was also a tad under the weather. I'm very grateful to the EPZ boffins who sorted out the missing link and pointed out that it's me. (Explains a lot. Blush )

A very happy New Year to all - a bit late I know! Sorry. BlushBlushBlush SmileSmileSmile

Sycamore, when quarter sawn, is one of my favorite furniture woods, particularly for table tops (I am a furniture maker, http://www.handlerstudio.com).

A most unusual EPZ photo.

........and the other piece of sycamore you carved into a Fender Strat, c/w tremolo arm? 🙂🙂🙂. Nice one here, fun idea.

Graham you are a man of mystery. You clearly come from a wonderful land where the ground is easy to dance on.
Even if you're not a regular foot tapper.

Anyway we've just got home from friends and it's gone midnight! (We haven't reported it and I think we've got away with it.)
But nonetheless it's way past my bedtime and I'm clearly delirious and typing drivel.

To be continued ...

Colin

My dear chap, as you have been feeling under the weather, I do hope you are now 'Feelin' Fine' and that you have company so that you have someone to attend to your needs and are not a 'Lonely Fella'.
I can hear your delighted shout of 'Geronimo' when you finished this woodworking masterpiece. In fact, I suspect there may well have been a bit of a 'Shindig' in the wee shed...
On the point of your shed, is it 'A Place in the Sun', or shaded trees so as not to get overheated. Perhaps it has roof windows so you can see 'Telstar' go overhead?

Now, I suspect you might have 'Foot Tapper' syndrome by now, accompanied by finger drumming, wishing I'd just shut up and become a 'Man of Mystery' by doing one and disappearing.
Fear not, your Sunday has not been captured and you remain free to examine the 'Diamonds' of the cutter that made that 'Jet Black' lettering.

Yours, Cliff 'Flingle' Bunt (Sir)

Bu**er! (Obviously that's "Bugger" not "Butter") You remembered more Shadows tunes than me!
Treble points for you, Back to bass-ics for me Sad

The Shadows were "idiots" to remain an instrumental-only group, lead guitarist Hank Marvin has said as he disclosed that Beatle George Harrison once advised them to start singing on their records.

Thrown from The Drones ( the 'gentlemans ' club that is, not those things with food blenders on their extremities which are so difficult to hover smoothly over the neighbours back garden as their rather delightful Au what a Pair sunbathes in the manner Scandanavian, mind you that might be the shaky hands on the controls, curse the live view facility!), never, Sir, never! You and the Newts are firmly in the Life Members book, which Jeeves guards closely, ensconced forever for services rendered in making much humour, laughter and more importantly, silliness! Smile

One hopes, and indeed expects, that in your times of malady Matron attends your every need, but from experience at B&Ts mansions I would suggest that when it's time for the bedtime Horlicks you refrain from requesting it delivered in the guise of the maid, French. The last time I did...., well,... let's just leave it that the laundry bill was large and shampoo versus Horlicks fails.Sad

Wishing you, Matron, the Newts and the Unicorns a very happy New Year,. Now just remind me is it 1920 or 2020?Smile

Bertie and those nice men with the white coats.

I thought you'd carved it into a digestive when i saw the thumbnail. Poor chaps getting
delirious with hunger pains, I was ready to jump into the old jalopy and bring you an emergency
supply of celery, carrot and reconstituted plasterboard crackers. Then i noticed it was a pune 'or
play on words'...Saturday shadows... I see what you did there, very good. Saint Cliff would be amused,
but then he could be tempted to sing a song about it, we don't want that, do we children.
Is it a lump of wood from the Fabled 'Harry Sycamore' tree, from Goonsberry down?
It should turn out nicely if it is Smile
Minnie: Come on, put your feet up.
[crash]
Henry: You shouldn't have done that from the standing position. SmileSmile
Have a suitably silly Sunday young Graham.
Hope you're feeling better.
All the best.
Dave.
