Saturday Shadows

By ChiliMan
Howdy, folks.

Roll on, Saturday Shadows Grin

Alrighty…here are scans of three old 4x6 prints. The photos were taken sometime in the second half of 2001 using black & white film. I scanned ‘em in colour mode…so the tone you see is the same as in the prints.

They were taken in the driveway in strong sun, hence the stark shadows which caught my eye.

I led with V1 ‘cos that’s the first shot I took. I liked how the shadow looked like ‘leaf bones’ superimposed on the leaf Grin

V3 is the full scene.

-----

Here are the hardware details:

Camera: Praktica MTL 50 (my favourite camera ever)
Lens: Pentacon 50mm/f1.8
Film: Kodak BW400CN
Scanned on: Epson Stylus TX121 printer

WARNING: After scanning these I scanned a few other old prints I’m fond of, so I may inflict some of those upon you soon Smile

Andrew

Oh, love these - rather to my surprise and I know mono is really not my thing! Has to be V3 which is quite stunningly beautiful.

"Leaf bones" - lovely expression, must file for re-use Smile
Not certain whether I prefer V1 or V2, while V3 is a great contextual explanation. Love the clarity of these old photos.

V3 for me, for the mix of all those real fishbone lines and shadows.
Thanks for the background. The resulting tone is something that I have experimented with digitally, it's very effective and rather eerie.

v3 for me Andrew. Wonderful crisp shadows and the real things look like negatives of the shadows, a wonderful optical experience.

n3 is amazing and no 1 deserves a special fishbone medal in its own right!
