Take one Saxophone, one snoot, black background, photograph and you get one very very dark image that will probably appear to be totally black in the thumbnails Smile

It's Saturday night, I have a glass of wine and am prepared to take the risk......

A risk worth taking - the hint of a tint of saxaphone says it all - of course, I also have had a glass of red wine so I could be looking at something completely different....!!!

Thumbnail's only mostly black. I like this and I think it would be even better if the bell was in sharper focus.

I thought so - I've spent ages trying to drag myself away from the dark side and then I jump straight back in Smile

I'm sure I'll be doing more - maybe with the bell in focus too!

I like these dark shots with the highlighted areas and I think they work very well on shiny brass instruments. However for me this is a little too dark and would have liked the have seen a little more of the instrument so that the different areas didnt look so disconnected. It would only need to be the very slightest glint as this could easily be contruded as two instruments especially after a couple of glasses of wine.

Altogether though a good shot and good use of light and shadow.

Thanks Ian

I admit I should have spent a bit more time on this one - I was setting up ready for a shoot tomorrow and decided to take 10 before I put my table away to try out the snoot on this. I'll try again another day with different lighting and more time!

Mind you I like the idea of it appearing to be two instruments - that said it's probably why very few have looked at it Smile I'm not bothered though - I like taking a chance every now and then to see what happens.

I've only had one glass of wine - a very large glass granted - and I swear it has no alcohol in it !

I agree, just a little disjointed, but I love the idea.

In the thumbnail I tought it was a big set of teeth and a golden egg

Nicely taken shot and looks much better opened up than in the thumbnail (that was a bit scary)
