Scarlet Darter

By Silverzone
And boy could it dart! I was exhausted by the time this fellow settled and then only briefly! Nice colour though and always worth the effort ( I try telling my other half that!) Thanks for looking, Sylvia

Should have stayed where you were when you first found it.....They have a habit of coming back to they're territory perch, normally the first place you see them......

Great image all the same......

That's a beauty, Sylvia, and a great background, too. Carol

Great colour in this image, and Ade is spot on. If you see a dragonfly perched 99 times out 100
it will come back to that spot. What I like doing is placing a new perch in a territory & see how
long it takes the dragonfly who's patch it is comes to try it out.

Lovely shot, but your ID is incorrect, this is a Scarlet Darter, Ruddy darters have all black legs and a more waisted shape to the abdomen

Yes it needs patience to capture these amazing insects and you have done well here. I photographed one today but I don't think that it is as good as this.
