I much prefer the effect in mono, the mist clinging to the water is cold and clammy.

This is totally different to the warmth of the original. Here, the sun is cold, and the mist is clammy, not soft and cotton-wool-like.

I like both versions Guy, with a slight preference for the mono i think, the sense of cold is more credible.

Although I miss the warm colours of the original post (& the version here), I think the mono is a more powerful image. The large flare now looks natural, as one of the broad rays of the low sun, struggling to cut through the misty cold that Malc (Satire Blue) mentioned.
