Scorpion Flies are non-venomous, they get their name from the upturned tail. They are predators and this one was nearly finished consuming a meal, so was a more co-operative subject.
This is lit with my DIY twin flash and diffuser/mirror film rig as I believe it is less threatening to the insects than a big white soft diffuser. I move very slowly and also wear a camouflage jacket, which I think helps too.
