Works fine in colour for me! See what others say. Good strong shadows here.

Its a lot easier for the shadow to be the subject os the image when its mono, - in general. The shadows here, especially in the centre will be the colour of that background, so less striking. Its high contrast with a sharp dark shadow that makes images with shadows as the subject work.

Ive tried a mono and a colour version of the first image, - looking at the mono, the very first thing people usually notice is the shadows, whereas in the colour, its the kilts, etc.

Shadows can work in colour, providing the picture is well-balanced overall. Too much saturation is a problem in the lead.

But tones may have to become secondary to the shadows - the lead is brighter than it needs to be for optimum shadow effect, I think

Shadows do work in colour, just do a search here for Saturday Shadows to get some ideas.
There is no reason shadow picureds have to be mono.
Shadows in colour can be just as effective.

That said, shadows are part of what make a mono image as you only have lioght and shade, and you can make them more dramatic and moody if needed whereas a colour version with the same treatment would look garish and false.

Shadows don't have to be demonstrated in mono images, colour can work just as well....sometimes.
The colour version here is far too saturated for me, especially in the reds, way too overdone and appear quite neon in nature.
The mods you have to date are all interesting and I find Willies mono has converted nicely with good contrast.
Thanks for Crits and comments

Because you have captured the long shadows so well, and included the whole from head to toe, your colour version works fine (except for the extreme tones).
The mono doesn't have the impact that the colour version does.

I like the way Willie has brought the peoples' features out of the shadows, though. Because the light is behind everybody, it's their shadow sides that you have photographed.

The crops in the modifications are interesting, and the compositions are worth considering, but I am returning to the original each time, probably because there is a lot more to see.
