Now being renovated, this glorious building was gutted by fire. The fire was so intense it actually buckled and melted the cast iron bannister rail down to the "below stairs" area. There were only 5 bedrooms, making this huge for a 5 bed house, but in its day it was what a bachelor needed. Yes, it was effectively a batchelor pad. I guess the rest of the space was taken up by servants quarters, kitechens, stables, ballroom, reception rooms and all the trappings of the life of the idle rich.
