Early morning mist at our local cemetery. Either you wait until 9am, when the gate padlock is opened. Or you simply walk in through the open wooden arch alongside it...
Two different crops from the same original file, converted separately but using the same Nik settings. I prefer the composition in the main upload, but the version has that dew-dropped cobweb...
Thanks for looking,
Moira

They have to lock cemeteries, they are so popular people are dying to get in.

Blush Sorry, I will grow up one day but not just yet!

Like the positioning of the main subject against the out of focus background - great mono.

I prefer the composition and content of the lead. The version is a tad too much, almost a composite of two images. There's a separate image on the left hand side of just the posts and the web...but I suspect there's an image or two already waiting on a hard-disk near you...

These are the only two that I prepared. For the version, I dithered; square doesn't work because of the distance to the grave stones and the outline of the tree.
Thanks early birds.

Great image Moira! I prefer the version, I like the contrast between the delicate web and the metalwork.

They keeping people in or out? Smile
Love the composition of the lead but the addition of the web really makes the shot for me

I have been back to the version and done a bit more work, it may appear in its own right some time...

I like the lead too but like Malc says and you've noted, there is that second image. All that said, I do like that web...

Lovely composition.

I like both, Moira, the lead is perhaps just my preference, but I do like the contrast of the chain and the spider web in the version. I think this would work squared off to include just the graves at the left end of the row.

What's next CCTV? In the alternative versions, it feels like you have two competing images in the frame. I think I would stick with the lead.

I like them both but prefer the version with the cobweb in the version, it's delicate feel works well against the iron work and wood of the gate.

I like the clean lines of the lead image.
What caught my eye, though, was the little face in the metal post.

Two brilliant images! My eye was immediately caught by the juxtaposition of the rough shapes and textures of the main subject and the out-of-focus context. As to the relative merits of the lead and the version I agree with all the comments above: I'm sitting on the fence. Bob

The lead but the cobweb is sure nice. People just die to get into places like this, don't they.

I like them both Moira and all points stated are relevant.
I might have tried just the post, chain and web in a square format, leaving the graves out altogether.

Samantha tells me that she's thought about it long and hard. 🥴 Her verdict, and mine for that matter, is the version. As a composition it seems more satisfying, perhaps because the structure is reminiscent of those abstract art works divided into panels. The cobweb, along with the marginally brighter metalwork, injects a little more life (oh the the irony!) and contrast into the image.
I await a the verdict of Mrs Trellis of North Wales. Yours, Humph.
PS It'll have to be a virtual gong - only one left and I haven't got to today's uploads yet ......... at this rate that'll be a job for tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow ............... 🏆
