Seeing Atop Cadillac Mountain

By LarryG
This intimate landscape is an oldie of mine taken in 2009. This is a good time to revisit old images, cull our photo libraries, and re-edit as needed. The green in the image is rock covered with lichen.

I really like the painterly feel of this image, it's really beautiful!

An unusual image of Cadillac Mountain...with no placement of the ocean. For those who do not know Acadia National Park, in Downeast Maine, this is the highest point on the Atlantic coastline north of Rio and Sugarloaf Mountain there. 1550 feet above sea level and a mile from the ocean. The summit is the first place in the US that sunlight hits in the morning. There is a road that winds up to the summit....most people drive there.... have ridden up on my recumbent bike a number of times. About a 45 minute climb for me, and about 10 minutes, at most, going down.

Peter, Thanks for viewing on commenting on this image. You are correct about the image not showing any ocean. I have others that do, but water was not my vision here. I was interested in the intimate landscape with late afternoon light that highlighted the bent white trees and the lichened rocks. Thanks again for your comment. Larry
