Magnificent editing to produce a lovely result...

That's why the edit is worth the trouble - and it's a brave man shows where he started! The difference between a snapshot and craftsmanship (and possibly art).

From the ordinary to the extraordinary. Fascinating to see the crude, rough and ready raw material you started with, and the polished, refined finished object, Tony.
Kilroy is quite impressed, too.Wink

Do you, like me, look deliberately for images that you feel will be worth converting? After doing so much mono work, I look at things and see them in b&w in my mind...

That's interesting Malc

I occasionally work as a volunteer photographer for a charity, where all the photos have to be in black and white

I shoot RAW and so can set the viewing screen on the back of the camera to B&W to see what I'm getting, even though the RAWs will still load to my computer in colour.

I find it useful

Hi Malc
It is only quite recently that I have taken to mono and I absolutely see things in mono now. That is not to say that colour is not outstanding of course, but for me there is more soul in mono. Particular with people; when you strip away the colour you are left with something deeper. I feel.
The black and white is excellent.. Like some waiting at the front door to heaven

No contest Tony, B&W wins hands down. Beautifully tweaked and, imho, it would look even better with that beam across the top cropped out......just my observation, that's all!!

Of course, those of us with mirrorless cameras can shoot B/W JPG files (the RAWs are still colour, of course) and see the effect in the viewfinder.

But this is going to another level - recognising what can be edited, relatively painlessly, and shooting it.
