Sgurr Na Stri Sunrise

By jamesgrant
They say that this is the best view in Britain. Nothing could have quite prepared me for the view. This is an image from what is a relatively small hill called Sgurr Na Stri, it's remote and sits isolated in the heart of the Cuillins but you will have seen this hill if you've ever been to Elgol or seen a picture there, its the one on the right. I walked in from Kilmarie for a wild camp up here and while it was much shorter than from Sligachan it certainly wasn't easy, the ascent route was the gully you see from Elgol. I was very tired when I reached the top but I stood in awe as I admired the view of Loch Coruisk and the whole of the mighty Cuillin range topped with snow. This image was taken at sunrise after a wild camp at the summit.

Great vista with a touch of light on the peaks. Been up here a couple of times in the summer from Sligachan; bit of a slog to get there but well worth it.

I have only been up there once... long slog in via Sligachan...........fell in river, camera submerged (and only hour into walk!) BUT the light was nowhere near as fantastic as this yet I loved it! Worth every step of the walk and every false "summit" of a walk back too! Well done you ! Smile
