Shadows 10

By jacomes
A builder mending a chimney casts his shadow on the neigbouring house. Two versions, one straightforward, one extreme. Which is for you?

thanks to everyone who commented and voted on "window plant" , or who looked in, as ever your support and interest means a lot to me.

Two very different images, James, and both have their merits. In the version, the vent to the right is an important detail. The lead gives far more context.
Fiddler on the roof comes to mind, with 'fiddling' not having anything to do with a violin in this case.

This presents quite a challenge!
My usual procedure is to prepare both, then decide on the spur of the moment whether I want a quiet day or to catch everyone unawares 👻

OK - here it is: V1 for me. Not that I dislike the opener per se, it's simply that I would want to clear up the background squiggles and other blemishes that I find distracting. You have achieved that and much more in V1.

Hi James

Both versions have their merits - the first with the textures on the wall but less sharp shadows you also have some detail in the fence, the second is very sharp but lacks detail..

I'm inclined to agree with most of the above. Both have interest, in different ways; so, if forced, I would choose the version.

Hard to choose between the two - I like the lead, but the version makes a great abstract 😃👍
