Shadows across Djemma El Fna square, Marrakech

By MiqsPix
As the sun sets over the square the preparations begin for the evening activity. There is a mixture of calling to prayer from the mosque and the drumming of the snake charmers enticing anyone to pay for an audience with a snake!

Wonderful shot, gorgeous long, sharp shadows. Having the strong Sun in the shot is what makes the shadows, bit it tends to overpower the scene with its brightness. It can be toned down a little, and I would make the shot more panoramic by cropping a little off the sky, - which places the tops of the building on the third.

Good work keeping it level.

I rather like this, but the really impressive bit is the foreground. I scrolled the image to the top of my screen to cut off the sun and sky and it really comes alive then. Superb lighting on the foreground.

Thanks for the comments. I agonised for some time before posting this image. Firstly I would have liked to eliminate the distorted vans that in my view spoil the shot. Unfortunately I couldn't wait any longer for them to move, and as the light was changing I had to compose take the shot. I also thought about either cropping off some foreground (to remove the vans) or alternatively cropping off sky, to make a third, but decided against as I liked both the night sky and the elongated shadows too much to lose. You might disagree. Smile

You might like to also look at my second image upload in this theme which was the main reason for the trip.

I love the shadows and the way they radiate out from that nuclear detonation. If I were you, I'd get on to the ground before the shock wave hits you.
