Today's blog is about the need to be there when the picture happens (or when the light is right, or before the model retires).

Put it another way: seize the day (or at least, the picture). Make use of the opportunities you have, and don't be so focussed on the shot you thought of that you don't see the possibility of others.

If you're paying a model for four hours outdoor nude photography, why would you waste any of that time putting her, clothed, in the corner of a frame like this?

I'd say that it's worth it because it works...

The title? Shadowside was the model's work name, before she retired.

Instant Award for this exceptionally beautiful photograph, John, the comment briefly delayed by the reading of your blog post. 'The Decisive Moment' is relevant to all photography, after all, not merely reportage.

Made me think of a scene from a Cadbury Flake advert from the '80s.
On reflection that is a very nice photo!

That is a beautiful image!!! No other words, just beautiful. Smile

I don't have an award to give so I shall give it my highest accolade by saying that I would happily cut off my own foot and eat it, raw, if just once in a lifetime I could take a picture such as this.

Beautiful, thank you!

Love this image, John. Great view point and composition and a lovely 'being there' feel to it, unusual for this type of shot.

Beautiful image John. A lovely model, lovely dress, lovely location and light.
As you said, sometimes the picture is there, you just have to see it and take it.

In my mind immediately: The swans lake... This white dress with the folds, and more better its reflection, tell the story, and the landscape simply completes it. A perfect photo, John!

John, this is a stunningly beautiful photo.....with clothes on. It feels like something out of a fairy tale. One of my favorites of yours.
