Shed Master

By robincoombes
Thanks for all recent support and comments, slightly different today. This was not posed or has been touched in any way, but captures for me a totally timeless scene at an engine shed with the shed master looking proudly at his fleet of locomotives, Hand held at f1.4 hence short DOF

Version 3 is just the engines and shows the effect of slower shutter speed more detail in engines but smoke turns to fuzzy hazy similar to long exposure waterfalls but this does not capture the effect of what you see and experience theoretically could combine 1 and 3 but don't feel it would be right

They're both excellent shots. I like how you chose to focus on the train in the second shot, rather than go for the shed master. My favourite is definitely the first though. Great work.

An excellent set of images, but V1 is the one for me, and in my humble opinion its the bowler hat on the engine master that adds so much to this image

#1 for me - I like the light on his face in #2, but 1 has all the quiet satisfaction of a job well done. And that formal bowler is perfect.

#1 for me Robin. I really like the vertical comp for this image, and the shallow dof. The bowler is icing on the cake. The tones give it a timeless feel.
