Silly Sunday? Stupid switch!

By dudler
For just over a week, my car's been away being mended, after someone ran into the back of it.

The courtesy car is a Quashquai, and I hate it.

It's sloppy, big, and not very wieldy. It looks like a tough offroader. But it's actually a rather tame FWD saloon that's put on weight... And it has things like this - a digital handbrake. It's about three inches beyond where I can reach, and you have to use the footrace to release it. Why? Just... why?

It has good points. Two of them. The reversing camera is fun, and it's done 60 mpg on the return trip to Pollock (over 300 miles). But is that enough, I wonder. Not for me!

Apologies if you own or love a Quashquai. But I shall rejoice to get my Impreza back... Tomorrow, I hope...

As a non-driver - I'll stick with the chocolate digestives...

Tough times on the car front then.
Good luck with it.

Normally, I'd run a mile to avoid agreeing with Jezza. But, his time...

The biscuits were to remind me that I could stop and binge to recover, if necessary!

My mate used to have car with one of those handbrakes (not this maker) .......... it activated and locked on in the middle of one of the busiest roundabouts in Edinburgh. He was the subject of a Radio 2 travel blackspot for about 2 hours!

I don't mind Qashqais and I've driven probably a couple of dozen. They're ok. But the petrol ones are thirsty.
But I'm with you on those electronic handbrakes. Some cars you don't need to press the footbrake first. Some Peugeots and Audis spring to mind.
Had to pick up a Vauxhall (Meriva I think) and was told the owner had p/xed it because the electronic brake was dodgy. I'd parked on a slope...

Edit - perfect subject for Silly Sunday Grin
