Silver Gull in flight

By steevo46
Taken from a small boat with the original 80-400mm Nikon zoom at 200mm on a D300 and using a polarizing filter.

People on forums (who often haven't used the 80-400mm) think that this lens is not very good.
Not true, (see the cropped pic) it can take very sharp pics of birds in flight, ESPECIALLY AT 200mm!
It's a somewhat scary-big lens with the hood on but the 80mm end even works OK for portraits

Hey Nikon, come on, where is that affordable and sharp AF-S 400mm f5.6 prime lens!??

Looks good to me,...Steevo. Our mew gull looks very similar except his legs and feet are a pale, 'baby food' green. The grace these gulls have in flight and their 'smarts' deserve more respect. Well done! TG
