Sketches of Spain: 3

By KingBee
First, as always, huge thanks for all the lovely UAs for "Sketches 2" - from Moira, Andy, SB, Vincent, Howard, Arne, Alan, Somnath and Michal - plus, of course, for all the other support and interest shown in it.

Another mono today, but darker and deeper, reflecting back to a time when Seville's Barrio Santa Cruz - where this image was taken - was the city's Jewish quarter until the late 14th century, when synagogues were closed, homes were confiscated and thousands of Jews were either killed or forced to convert to Christianity. The name of this alley, which is situated just off the Plaza Patio de Banderas, not far from Seville's cathedral, is - perhaps not surprisingly - La Juderia.

A cracking shot, Bob; dark, moody and mysterious. Well spotted and beautifully taken. Allan

Fantastic composition, and lovely control of exposure. I like the use of the dark dead space on the left, and the way the eye is gradually lead up through the alleyway. But the bright light cast on the floor is what makes it stand out. Fantastic work.

Thanks, SB. Funnily enough, I had originally thought about cloning that out, but decided against it. Some may see it as a distraction, but I like it.

Perfect just as it is. Glad you didn't clone the light out, it adds interest.

Step around the patch of light, you may find yourself transported if you try to go through it.
