Sligachan Stream ...

By sut68
Rich and myself had a day out touring Skye, whilst Fran & Beth went on a boat trip to see some seals. We stopped at a couple of locations, one being here at the Sligachan River. The light in general was a little too harsh for my liking but the dappled light on the hills was too good to waste Grin

I usually avoid shooting in the middle of the day as I find the light can be extremely harsh and contrasty ... but it does suit the mono treatment Wink

0.4 sec @ ISO 100 + 0.6 ProGlass ND + 0.6 ND Grad to hold back the sky + 0.9 ND Grad [pushed right down for a further 3 stops].

Cheers for dropping by [if you made it past the thumbnail that is Wink] ... just off to forage for some dinner, catch up in a bit Smile

With the white section of water in the fg, it must have been difficult to expose this correctly Paul. I like your viewpoint, the dramatic sky, and the light and shade on the slopes.

Cheers Nigel, you're right in that it wasn't the easiest to expose for correctly plus the light was changing all the time.

Some shots were a little more 'blown' depending on the amount of white water in that particular area. Just checking the histogram after each shot helped to keep most of it in check - it is slightly blown in the very lightest areas, but there's enough detail in there to make up for it.

Love the conversion Paul, and some awesome light on the hills.

I like the details and tones in this Paul good capture and conversion.
The light on the far hills is well timed.

Given the conditions you've handled it very well Paul, not to your usual extremely high standards though.

Cheers Darren ... probably why I don't normally shoot in these conditions, but one I'm reasonably happy with all-the-same.

Grand monochrome conversion Paul, the splash of light and the dark bulk of Beinn Dearg behind makes this for me.
You'll be back to Skye again I reckon, maybe a different time of year?
