Slipway

By DaveMead
Hi Folks,
Thanks for the comments & clicks for 'Roseberry Topping', much appreciated as always. It's interesting that by adding a picture of steviehutch, I ended up with quite a few less votes than with my previous few uploads. I think I need a better looking friend to accompany me in future. Grin
Tonights was taken last week at Staithes Harbour using the Big Stopper. As well as the usual curve adjustment layers I have used 'Transform' to straighten everything up. Steve is in this one as well but don't let that put you off. Tongue
As usual, I am interested in what you think, good or bad, and look forward to reading your comments. Thanks for dropping by, have a great evening.
Dave

Another fine offering Dave. Exposure and composition is spot on and the light is excellent. If it was my image I might be tempted to clone/heal out the bits of seaweed either side of slipway where it joins the water. I'm still trying ot find Steve in this image by the way. If I don't find him soon I'll have to phone the Coastguard. Smile

Like your use of the 10 stopper here Dave but the point Oll1e has made has been worrying me with this image . Everything just looks too far away for me . Excellent light and exposure all top class . Agree about the seaweed which does look like blobs of dirt . Great details in the slipway so just the worry of choice of lens for me . .....Phil

Thanks everybody, it's great to get some honest opinion. I know exactly what you mean about the seaweed Colin but I tend to take the attitude of 'It was there so there it stays'. Having said that, I've looked closely at the image and I can't see Steve either so I think I must have cloned him out. Smile You know my thoughts on the 10-20 Phil, it is undoubtably overused on this site and it often pushes the subject of an image way into the background. However, in this case, I think its use was justified as the subject of the image was the slipway and in order to fit as much of that in as possible the lens was all the way out at 10mm, something I rarely do these days. I actually wanted the harbour walls to appear far more distant than they are as they are relatively modern and utilitarian in appearance. Having said that, the point you make is a valid one and one that should be discussed far more on ePz than it is. Thanks folks, keep 'em coming. Smile

Dave, not familiar with this view, but the way you have composed the image using ultra wide angle has put way more emphasis on the foreground, obviously what you were looking for. IMO works really well. Great use of the 10 stopper and great transforming as I image it needed some straightening++
Great effort.
