Small Heath

By Ade_Osman
The nice thing about getting out and about early in the mornings is that all the butterflies are fairly dopey and with care very easy to handle and move around, mind you the real trick is finding the little blighters in the first place Smile Decided to take a shot of this Small Heath on my index finger so as to give folks a sense of scale of this tiny little species. Taken on my little butterfly foray back midweek, they are out there guys, but not in any real great numbers and finding them is the hardest thing!......So get out there and start looking!......Especially you Ed (glostopcat) Tongue

Nice shot Ade. The background colour contrast the Small Heath beautifully. Should be large blue time on Collard in a couple of weeks. Maybe see you there?

An epic upload Ade, now you are just showing off! You may have tamed this small heath but I reckon you scared off the big Heath when you were down on the levels!WinkTongue

........LOL....It was a real tricky shot as it happens, the butterfly was on index finger of my right hand! In other words my shutter finger, have you ever tried to shoot something with your left hand using a right handed camera?......

......I'll be there and one or two other places I know for them Large Blues.....Guaranteed! Smile

It looks like you've been taking lessons from Bunbeam on how to take one handed macro shots, you've certainly proved your agility and athleticism in this one!Wink

You wouldn't have said that if you were there Ed, if someone had been videoing it, they would have made 250 on YBF easily, I dropped the camera twice, fortunately it was only 12" of the ground at the time.....LOL
