Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

By chase
My last one of Richard & his pipe.

I'm really trying to get to grips with mono stuff,I'm pants at the conversion malarky !
I thought he was a good subject to have a bash with so here it is.
At least he is looking at the camera this time Wink
I like the drop of rim light on his pipe & fingers & the smoke speaks for itself.
Lit with a softbox & triflector opposite.

Thanks for dropping by,your views are always appreciated.

Works really well for me, especially that wisp of smoke as a final touch - not a lot wrong with the mono, either. What method do you use?

Looks like hes having a 'Condor moment' (or perhaps you are too young to remember that particular series of TV adverts). Anyway I digress.... Well posed, beautifully lit and expertly processed portrait Janet.

Yes, all your portraits of this gent are excellent but I think maybe this is the best - and probably captures his character most effectively with his direct look into the lens.
I prefer black and white. You have perfectly achieved great tones and no burnt out highlights - even on the fingers. You've nailed it as Simon Cowell would say!Smile

Superb mono with all those textures and 'stubble'
and of course the smoke.
