Snout Butterfly

Snout Butterfly
Libytheana bachmanii . 1 ½---2 inches
Aka the American Snout Butterfly. ( there are fewer than a dozen species worldwide-- only 2 will be found in the North American continent.
This dull butterfly has an enlarged, beak like palpi or snout. Fossils have been found in shale deposits dating to 30 million years old!

The version will show a more detailed view of his snout and outer wings!

Oh. my... the 'Jimmy Durante' of butterflies . Has some same colours as the Monarch....not in the same pattern of course.
Have never heard of this species before Jenn amazing features on them and V1 shows off the snout perfectly !
