Snow Monkey

By Ayelet_A
Hello everyone!
I apologize in advance for the fact that my next couple of uploads are going to be monkeys, monkeys and then some more monkeys. You have been warned Wink

Jigokudani, like I've said is famous for its hot springs. Usually those hot springs are used by us humans, but there is one place called the Jigokudani monkey park, in which the hot springs habitats are surprisingly enough - monkeys Smile
Being only accessible via a narrow two kilometer footpath through the forest, keep it uncrowded despite being relatively well-known.
It is famous for its large population of wild Japanese Macaques (Macaca fuscata), more commonly referred to as Snow Monkeys, that go to the valley during the winter, foraging elsewhere in the national park during the warmer months.
Hot springs in Japanese is "Onsen", and seeing those monkeys goofing around in the park resulted in the invention of a new phrase - "like a monkey in an onsen", which my brother thought was very fitting to almost any occasion. He is the one who came up with the phrase as well.

Anyway - enjoy the pictures (like a monkey in an onsen) Wink

looks like the other side of the face of this monkey is swollen and with wound, is it properly taking care of the authorities? Great shots.

Wow - thanks everyone! glad to know there are so many monkeys lovers on the site Wink

Andy- LOL!!! Don't flatter yourself Wink

Dennis - He does have a bruise on his left chick. There were a couple of monkeys there who looked bruised but it's not due to mistreatment. Even though the site is a tourist spot the monkeys are free to wonder around and behave naturally. Therefore you see fights and struggles over territory and food, like you would have expected in the wild. However the people that run the site keep an eye on the monkeys and from what I figured looked after them if something went wrong. Beside that they are completely free and as said wonder around the woods on their own.
