Snow storm at Surprise View

By suemart
I set out for Mam Tor at sunrise but missed that due to heavy snow which slowed the journey. Not to waste the early start, I headed back to Surprise View and the photogenic birch trees. I stayed for an hour or so during which time the weather ranged from dark snow storms to bright sunshine with changes between the two every few minutes.

I have added a colour shot as a version. I think I like the mono better, but would be keen to hear what you think.

Thank you for your support, comments, votes and awards for my last sunrise shot. They are all much appreicated.

Fabulous Sue. I think the colour just has the edge for me. They’re both stunning.

The mono has more clarity, but both are great.

I like them both in different ways.
But I would probably put the mono first also.
Well done!

Blimey... and I thought Weardale was cold!

Good shot, though I'd stick with the b&w – the colour doesn't really add anything in my opinion, so it doesn't earn its keep.

Both pictures express a winter mood well. Normally I'd prefer the mono but in this case it's the almost complete lack of colour in the colour version that conveys to me the season's bleakness and the strength of the snow storm. Bob

I like both, I was expecting to see bits of green in the colour so it was a lovely 'surprise' Wink
