So Young

By DaveRyder
Taken for the B&W Challenge a few weeks ago.
I hadn't read the text until I was processing.

Earnest, 15 months. On the second headstone the Barkers, 1yr 7mths, 12yr and two teenagers. All the dates and those of the older, but not old, family members also in quite a short time frame.
Having looked the were a number of epidemics around then. Cholera, Typhoid.
We take life expectancy for granted today....

I've a darker version I had intended to add as a version today but missed the save button, that will appear another time.

One reason why I return to graveyards is the glimpses they give of other people's stories. So often the stories are sad.

Very good and legible gravestones, so often of that vintage, badly flaked or covered in moss. When I was doing the Family Tree a few years ago, visited as lot of churchyards, with varied results.

A fact of life in previous centuries, almost all families in my family tree lost a child in infancy, but often those who survived lived into their 60's and 70's.
