An old gun pointing rather futilely at an empty sea and the approaching storm. Kind of sums up the country today?

Isn't that what happened in the fare east if I recall correctly.
And I also recall a line from Dad's Army where Captain Mainwaring accuses the Germans of not playing by the rules by going around the French defence line.
All defences look good on paper behind a desk at the MoD.

No need for such guns to deter the enemy when there's the prospect of a Saturday night in Newcastle, I'm told...
