Sodding PTSD

By NDODS
Thank you for all your most gracious comments and valued votes following yesterdays upload of the dying roses.

Todays upload is the image is the painting which I have spent too much time on. As you can see it is primarily based on the 'Scream' by Munch, however there are a few distinctive twists. The first one is that it has been painted on a blank jigsaw which is in many ways a metaphor of my life. The missing pieces represent those ares of my brain which do not function as clearly as those without an acquired brain injury with the added slice of PTSD thrown in for good measure. The images themselves represent flashbacks and night tremors which constantly haunt me, whilst at the same time the almost faceless frame is the broken man which I have become, and all for what? "The Queen's Schilling and Oath of Allegiance".

I know it is Silly Sunday, however just for once this is Serious Sunday.

I hope that you all have a great day, for me who knows.

Regards as always Nathan Grin

An amazing piece of work, Nathan, obviously so much thought has gone into this, giving us an insight as to how it must feel to suffer as you do. Carol

That brings things home with a big bang Nathan - I cannot think of anything I have seen which moved me as much as this image. Your portrayal is humbling and truthfully I am stumbling for words.

Your words move me to tears. In this world we all have our cross to bear but some of us have more to carry. There is not a lot more I can say except we think of you and your suffering.

I remember well Nathan how the Sargent signing me up was so nice then we took the Queens Schilling took the Oath and boy did is attitude change, but must say a lot of youngsters today could do with some of the discipline that we had, I feel I was a better man leaving the Army than when I went in. Keep the spirit up my friend we need you on parade.

Regards

Trev.

A real puzzler
A thought provoking image Nathan & very topical with the current Middle East unease.. It brings home what a cushioned life most of us have.
Appreciate you sharing this with us & I hope it has been in some way therapeutic to you in the process.

More than words could say - an excellent piece of work to portray brain damage
and the futilty of war.
However I must say the parts of your brain which do work, work exceptionally well!
Long may that be the case.

Brilliant write up Nathan, and a brilliant working of 'the Scream'. Life is just a Jig saw Puzzle, and a relentless struggle to find the missing pieces. O well, let's face it, we're all just filling in the space between Birth and Death. Smile

Not that good with words so won't say much , don't know the details of your injury or the cause but you do yourself proud and in many cases your damaged brain is being put to great use through your images and words better than some of the fools out there that do there best to switch themselfs off .
